(14/8) The Department of Civil Engineering Universitas Diponegoro in collaboration with the Institute for Structural Analysis, Technische Universität Dresden Germany held a public lecture with the theme “On-Going Research in the Institute for Structural Analysis, TU Dresden, Germany”. This public lecture is a continuation of the previous lecture, where in the previous lecture, the theme was about education and research in Germany. In this public lecture, Prof. Dr-Ing. habil. Michael Kaliske from TU Dresden was the main speaker. While Dr-Ing. Bobby Rio Indriyantho, S.T., M.T., a lecturer from the Department of Civil Engineering, was appointed as the moderator. This public lecture was held in the E301 Room of the Department of Civil Engineering and was attended by several lecturers from the Department of Civil Engineering, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Han Ay Lie, M.Eng and Dr. Ir. Purwanto, M.T, M.Eng, and several bachelor and master students of Civil Engineering.
Technische Universität Dresden is one of the biggest modern multidisciplinary universities in Germany. This university is one of eleven institutions in Germany that obtained the predicate as the “University of Excellence” by the German Universities Excellence Initiatives (Ziele der Exzellenzinitiative). One of the most widely known fields of study on this campus is engineering, particularly civil engineering. In this field, the Institute of Structural Analysis led by Prof. Kaliske became one of the laboratories that are often used as a reference in the civil engineering field, specifically in the field of structural analysis
In this public lecture, Prof. Kaliske, as the researcher who focuses on structural analysis, discussed the latest research done by his laboratory in the field of structural analysis. He also explained the related topics such as how internal and external tensile and pressing in a structure can affect that structure. In addition, he also explained how linear and nonlinear concrete block has its own challenge and aims when applying it.
This public lecture is a part of the Visiting Professor program initiated by the Department of Civil Engineering. In this program, Prof. Dr-Ing. Habil. Michael Kaliske became the guest lecture. In addition to the public lecture, other agendas are also present on this program including the MoA Signing with the Faculty of Engineering and BIMA research discussion. Hopefully, from this mission, the academics and lecturers in Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Engineering gained new knowledge and relationships from qualified foreign partners.
