Join Course 2025: Sustainable Coastal Urban Futures: A Planning Studio for Settlements and Livelihoods in Semarang

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP) Undip, in collaboration with Handong Global University, proudly presents the Joint Course 2025: Sustainable Coastal Urban Futures: A Planning Studio for Settlements and Livelihoods in Semarang.

Climate change poses serious challenges to coastal cities, from sea level rise and flooding to land subsidence and ecosystem degradation. Semarang’s coastal area, particularly Mangkang Wetan, reflects these struggles, facing tidal floods, erosion, and socio-economic impacts.

This program is structured as a forum for participants, especially students, to respond to phenomena in selected cases in the form of comprehensive action plans to achieve urban resilience to climate change impacts. It is also part of UNDIP’s commitment to the World Class University (WCU) program and aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 and SDG 13.

By joining this course, students will have an opportunity to explore urban resilience through lectures, field observations, and collaborative discussions. Participants will develop practical action plans that integrate infrastructure, ecosystems, and community-driven solutions contributing to more sustainable and resilient coastal urban futures.
