History
The establishment of the college is always through dynamics and hard struggle, as well as the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro (FT UNDIP). Starting from the crystallization of ideas which became a major idea of some engineers like Ir. Jacob Rais (The Director of Office Land Registration Semarang), Ir. Gunawan, Prof. Ir Soemarman , Ir. Subarkah, Ir. R. Oei Djwee Hwie, Ir. R. Soenardi (alm), Ir. Kok Lie Gwan, Ir. Moeljadi, and Ir. Tjoa Tjeng Kie, to establish an higher education institution of engineering in Semarang.
On October 20, 1958, supported by the local government and the elements of society, the plan was realized with the opening of the College of Engineering at the University of Semarang who had stood since January 9, 1957. In the third Dies Natalis of UNDIP on January 9, 1960, the first president of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno was rename Universitas Semarang became Universitas Diponegoro. Then, on October 15, 1960 Academy of Engineering was changed to Faculty of Engineering with first Dean was Prof. Ir, Soemarman. Civil Engineering Department was the first department in the Faculty of Engineering, before any other department opened.
Lectures held in the afternoon with borrow the building around Tugu Muda (currently the House of Peace building), then moved the MT. Haryono No. 427 Pepekuper Territory’s IV, as a college. After of Faculty of Engineering moved to the “White House” on campus Pleburan / Jl. Hayam Wuruk. Furthermore, in 1996 up to the present campus of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Diponegoro moved to Tembalang, which precede built through Six Universities Development and Rehabilitation Sub Sector Project (SUDR)
Since the University of Diponegoro was inaugurated as the college on October 15, 1960, the Faculty of Engineering as a printer qualified human resources, continue to develop them by establishing the Department (Study Program) required by the community. The development of majors and courses in the Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Diponegoro in chronological are as follows:
Departement
Department of Civil Engineering
Department of Civil Engineering was the first department in the Faculty of Engineering who stand together with the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering, by the Head of the Department concurrently first Dean of Engineering Prof. Ir. Soemarman. Department of Civil Engineering was accredited by SK BAN Higher Education No. 021 / BAN-PT / Ak-VII / S1 / VI / 2004. In 1997 the department opened Master Program, and in June 2004 opened Doctoral Program.
Department of Architectural Engineering
Department of Architectural Engineering was opened in 1962 with Prof. Ir. Sidharta as the first Head of Department. It accredited by SK BAN-PT No. 028 / BAN-PT / Ak-X / S1 / XI / 2007 on November 26, 2007. The Department also initiated the opening of Engineering Master Program in 1998.
Department of Chemical Engineering
In 1965 the Chemical Engineering Department opened by the first Head of the Department was Ir. Nisyamhuri . On September 12, 2003 the Department of Chemical Engineering has been accredited by SK BAN-PT No. 029 / BAN-PT / Ak-XI / S1 / XI / 2008. In 2005 also opened Chemical Engineering Master Program.
Department of Mathematics
Department of Mathematics was opened in 1969. Once established and producing many graduates, starting from 1988 Department of Mathematics no longer shelter under the Faculty of Engineering, and split off into a Management Board Programs in Mathematics (Mathematics and Science) which is now the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
Department of Mechanical Engineering
Department of Mechanical Engineering was opened in 1983 by the Decree of the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, followed by Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education No. 43 / DIKTI / KEP / 1984 dated August 21, 1984. The first Head of the Department was Ir. Slamet Waluyo. Mechanical Engineering Study Program changed into the Department of Mechanical Engineering by Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education. 78 / DIKTI / Kep / 1998. Department of Mechanical Engineering on May 23, 2009 has been accredited by SK BAN-PT No. 010 / BAN-PT / Ak-VII / S1 / XI / 2009. In 2007, it has opened Mechanical Engineering Master Program.
Department of Electrical engineering
Based on the Rector’s Decree in 1983 opened Electrical Engineering Program established through the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher 47 / DIKTI / Kep / 1986 dated September 26, 1986, by the first Head of the Department was Ir. Adi Ward (PLN-Central Java). Department of Electrical Engineering has been accredited by SK BAN-PT No. 029 / BAN-PT / Ak-XI / S1 / XI / 2008 on November 13, 2008.
Department of Urban and Regional Planning Engioneering
Department of Urban and Regional Planning Engineering was opened in 1992 by the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education No.43 / Dikti / Kep / 1992 dated March 18, 1992. The first Head of the Program was Dr.Ir.Soegiono Soetomo, DEA. This course turned into the Department Urban and Regional Planning by the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 79 / DIKTI / Kep / 1999. Department of Regional and Urban Planning accredited A by SK BAN-PT No. 033 / BAN-PT / Ak-X / S1 / I / 2008 dated January 18, 2008. This Department developed the Master Program of Urban Development (MPUD) in 1999. In 2006 the program expanded becomes the Modular System of Master Program of Regional and Urban Planning in collaboration with the Department of Public Works.
Department of Industrial Engineering
In 1998 was opened the Industrial Engineering Program established by the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No.51 / DIKTI / KEP / 1998 date February 23, 1998. The first Head of the Department was Ir. R.M. Haryo Santoso, MM. Department of Industrial Engineering is accredited B by SK BAN-PT No. 011 / BAN-PT / Ak-X / S1 / V / 2007 dated May 26, 2007
Department of Environmental Engineering
At the beginning of the academic year 1999/2000 Department of Environmental Engineering was accepting new students. Department of Environmental Engineering was officially opened in 1999 by the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education 377 / DIKTI / KEP / 1998 dated October 21, 1998. The first Head of the Department was Ir. H. Nasrullah, MS. It recently accredited B by SK BAN-PT No. 018 / BAN-PT / Ak-X / S1 / VIII / 2007 dated August 18, 2007.
Department of Naval Architecture Engineering
Based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education No. 3206 / D / T / 2002 dated October 28, 2002, in the academic year 2003/2004 was opened Undergraduate Program of Naval Architecture. The first Head of the program was Chairman: Ir. H. Sukanto Jatmiko.
Department of Geological Engineering
Based on the Permit Letter to Directorate General of Higher Education No. 3024 / D / T 2004 dated August 4, 2004, in the academic year 2004/2005 was opened Undergraduate Program of Geological Engineering. The first Head of the program was Ir. Dwiyanto J.S.M.
Department of Geodetic Engineering
Based on the Permit Letter to Directorate General of Higher Education No. 3774 / D / T / 2004 dated September 15, 2004 in the academic year 2005/2006 was opened Undergraduate Program of Geodetic Engineering. The first Head of the Program was Ir. Bambang Sudarsono, MS.
Department of Computer System Engineering
Based on the a Permit Letter to Directorate General of Higher Education No. 2782 / D / T / 2008 dated August 20, 2008, in the academic year 2008/2009 opened Undergraduate Program of Computer System Engineering with the Chairman of the first study Dr. Ir. Hermawan, DEA.
